Inspiration

Each time we face the blank canvas, we begin with the question, who am I? The answer comes to us when we let it flow through us - trusting our creative work to a deeper way of knowing.

When people say, “I feel stuck, out of ideas…nothing’s coming to mind,” perhaps they’re looking in the wrong place. The more we think about inspiration, the more elusive it becomes. Some of us exhaust ourselves and give up all together. Others seek the path of respectability with options limited by fixed standards of ‘right’ and ‘wrong.’

But what if creative ideas are not about thinking things up or getting it right? What if there are no mistakes, and creativity is not something we learn ‘out there’ but something we unleash from within as we acknowledge the endless supply of images waiting there? No one will give you permission; you must take it: This is what I need to do in this moment. Every honest mark made without judgment or fear is a revelation. The work unfolds from trust in the movement; you watch because you have much to learn. You welcome the images, but there is no need to analyze. Art is a different way of knowing. You are drawing from new territory, a place of mystery: strange, dark, unknown, because therein lies an endless sea of inspiration and a voice you’ve never heard until now.

It takes courage to lose yourself this way, but access to our intuitive truth is vital for creative freedom. It is the raw material that never runs out. It allows us to experiment, take risks, stumble, keep moving…in short, it allows us to be endlessly inspired by the astonishing truth of who we are.

Silkeborg - Ikea turkish rug

Incase you don't already know, Ikea has a great new (limited) rug collection out!  Its called Silkeborg and you won't find it on their website (at least in the US). Silkeborg rugs are made from vintage Turkish rugs that have been cut up (to save the good parts), dyed, shaved down and then sewn back together to form a one of a kind piece!  I encourage you to go check them out!  The quality is fantastic and prices are untouchable!  Below is a photo of the display I did the for Pittsburgh store. And one of the little guys I picked up for under my kitchen sink. Let me know what you think after you've seen them in person!   -Greg      style="display:block"      data-ad-format="fluid"      data-ad-layout="text-only"      data-ad-layout-key="-gw-1+1v-3d-12"      data-ad-client="ca-pub-4537218573050932"      data-ad-slot="7152476532">

our new house

On January 16th, 2018 Elliott and I became homeowners!   After 10 years in our condo it was time... we wanted more space, a yard and no HOA.   We were looking  for years but nothing was right.  A friend of mine made us aware that this house had a for-sale-by-owner sign and in the process found out that my dads co-worker was the owner... lucky for us he recently acquired it with the purchase of a different house (in order to get the house he wanted this house he had to purchase this house as part of the deal) and he wanted nothing to do with this one so we jumped at it!  as is. with no inspection. eek!   The house was built in 1910 and was vacant for 7 years before we got it.  Ive been wanting to document this process all along (which i do on instagram @: ggpiccini) but life happens and i get busy... We had to get our condo ready to hit the market (two mortgages is no fun), which we did (and it sold in 3 days!) and we had to get this house livable.   So far we'v
